A Few Fall Goals

Now that Labor Day has come and gone, I want to set a few goals for myself regarding the next few months. There are some habits I have been meaning to break, and I'm going to use the change in seasons as a catalyst to improving. Fall is such an invigorating and inspiring season to me, and I am excited to experience my first "real fall" in New York City with changing foliage and brisk air.

Checking social media/my phone less
I have gotten into the vicious habit of opening my phone whenever I don't have something to do in front of me–– am I in bed? Phone. Am I on the subway? Phone. Am I with friends in the car? Phone. It's such a terrible crutch, and I am less aware of what is happening around me because of it. I have the app Moment that tells me exactly how much time I am spending on my phone each day, and lately, it's embarrassingly been over 5 hours. The thing is, it doesn't feel like 5 hours, but even if you're picking your phone up for 10 minutes here and there, it adds up rather quickly. The worst habit I have is definitely taking my phone to bed with me. I want to try to stop looking at my phone after 9:00PM–– whatever happens after that time on social media is not worth losing sleep over, especially when I can just check it the next day. It's most likely not going anywhere!

Going to bed earlier and getting up earlier
I honestly think I have been going to bed later lately because of the phone addiction. I always think to myself "just one more Facebook video" but end up watching all of the suggested videos below the video I am watching too. Lately, bedtime has been around 1:00AM and I have been waking up every morning at 9:00AM. I want to go to bed at 11:00PM and wake up at 8:00AM–– this will give me an extra hour of sleep, but I will also get an hour to myself in the mornings!

Stick to the solid workout routine I have gotten myself in
I have been religiously attending spin class twice a week using Classpass (So far, Flywheel, Peloton, and Swerve are my favorite studios for you New Yorkers reading this) and on off days, I have been running or doing abs. I would really like to keep this going the next few months, and I would like to keep eating healthier so I can finally see results. Also, this is not sponsored, but if you live in a city where Classpass is available, I most definitely urge you to try it. I buy 10 classes a month which allows me to go to any participating studio in the city, and they also have community classes that don't count towards your class limit! You can get $40 off your first month by signing up here!

Establish a budget and follow it
I have a weekly spending limit, but I would like to spend even less than this and use the extra to finish decorating my room. I love my room here, but it needs a few finishing touches so it doesn't feel as bleak, and I need to get a TV so I can chill in bed and relax at night (I just really want ESPN and E! back in my life).

  1. Sounds like a great plan! I've started getting up a few hours before I need to get ready for work and I've enjoyed having the extra time to do things I enjoy before working all day. https://poshmark.com/closet/maf082015
