Safari Sweater

I wanted a cheery sweater for the fall, and I ran towards this one in J. Crew Factory when I saw it the other day. It is lightweight and perfect for layering, but it is not boring at all! I paired it with my new Rebecca Minkoff crossbody and my Tory Burch espadrilles for a relaxing day at the park.

How To: Hang The Perfect Gallery Wall

Gallery walls are the perfect way to adorn a plain wall with multiple whimsical prints. A ton of y'all have been emailing me and messaging me asking how to hang a gallery wall, so I have decided to share a few tips!

When creating your gallery wall, pick one of the approaches below:

Option #1: Stick to the same frame color for most of the wall
By doing this, you eliminate the look of clutter. I chose to use mostly white frames (with a couple of gold thrown in), and I feel that the white frames tied all of the prints together. This gives you more freedom to choose whatever prints you want and hang in any manner you please.

Option #2: Stick to the same color scheme when choosing prints
If you do this, you have more freedom with frame selection without things looking too crazy. One of my favorite combos is using prints with primarily pink + blue + gold tones in them and then using a mixture of colored frames and gold frames (example here).

Option #3: When hanging prints, stick to a symmetrical approach
I'll admit that I had no plan of how I was going to hang my gallery wall. I didn't even use a level to make sure things were straight (whoops). I hung my Gray Malin print in the center, and then worked around it to create a somewhat symmetrical pattern that complimented my headboard shape. This allows you more freedom in frame choice and print selection without things looking too crazy.

If the thought of creating your own gallery wall still intimidates and terrifies you, this website offers some good tips on how to create the perfect gallery wall.

If you would like to see how I created a mini gallery wall in my dorm room last year, here are photos of that!

I adore this pullover that Charles River Apparel sent me for fall! It is the best for morning walks, studying in the library, and cuddling in bed all day. I would recommend sizing up (I wear a medium), especially if you plan on layering it in the cooler months.

Welcome to my apartment! I have been waiting to post this until everything came together, and it finally did! Now that you've seen the photos, I'll explain the inspiration behind each part of it.

My Bedroom
I knew that I wanted a huge gallery wall over my bed, so I ordered a Gray Malin print when it went on sale this summer. I purchased the print above that one from an artist on the street in NYC, and the rest are printed off of pinterest and framed. I also knew that I wanted simplistic + white bedding so I could order colorful pillows. When I first moved in at the beginning of the semester, I had absolutely no furniture and no mattress. I furnished my whole room in 24 hours without pre-ordering anything, and I am still not sure how I managed to do it! The whole bedroom was pretty much spontaneously done.

The Living Room
My roommate and I decided to go with a mostly blue and white color scheme for the living room with other pops of color thrown in. We love how simple yet colorful it is! We were initially worried about getting our white Ikea couches dirty, but we have not had any problems so far and the slipcover is removable and washable. Most of the pillows and throws are from West Elm. For the TV stand, we decided to decorate with coffee table books and board games. The gold accent pieces are also from West Elm. The deer head on the wall was also a West Elm find! We painted the painting above the couch together, which made for a fun little DIY project.

The Bar Cart
We both thought that a bar cart was necessary (for decorational purposes), so we used this customizable stand from the Container Store! It was actually our TV stand in our dorm last year, and we just added the wine rack. The tray is from West Elm and the glasses are from Ikea.

The Kitchen
I can't really cook anything (besides making cookies from scratch), but Virginia cooks for us a lot. We decided to keep the kitchen as simple as possible to avoid clutter. We are both from Georgia, so we have our "I love Georgia" art in the corner with some of our favorite candles. The bar stools are a Target find!

Hope you liked it! If you have any questions regarding where anything was purchased, feel free to drop me a message here.

This flannel boyfriend shirt is perfect for fall days, especially when paired with a light jacket and booties. I wore this outfit while doing errands over fall break (and snapped these pics quickly in front of my house) because of its comfort and practicality. I love all of the pockets that the jacket has, and the Madewell tote is so roomy!
