My Spring Playlist

One of my favorite things about spring is being able to ride around town with all of the windows down and the sunroof open while blaring music. Lately, I have been blasting the following songs on repeat with my friends! They're seriously so catchy.

What songs have y'all been listening to lately? If you have any song recommendations, feel free to leave them in the comments! I always love hearing from you guys and I'm always looking for new songs to listen to!

20 Things I Learned Before the Age of 20

It's hard to believe that I've been alive for two decades. It feels like just yesterday that my brother and I were either playing under the dining room table, getting in fistfights, or having secret club meetings in his closet (Yes, we had our own club. Yes, it was lame).

Over the past nineteen years of my life leading up to today, I've learned many valuable lessons. Although I'm happy that a new chapter of my life is about to begin, I am thankful for the things I've learned along the way. Here are 20 of them!
  1. If someone or something makes you unhappy, cut that person or thing out of your life as soon as you can. Don't waste time getting sucked into toxic relationships. It isn't worth it!
  2. Get exercise daily. You'll be less stressed and you'll feel better about yourself.
  3. Drink water–– lots and lots of it! It helps your skin tremendously. I stopped drinking Diet Coke a little over a month ago and started drinking only water instead... it helped clear up my acne so much!
  4. Always carry at least $20 in cash. Admittedly, I need to work on this, but it's so helpful to have. Some restaurants only accept cash, and it's good to have in case you forget your debit/credit card!
  5. Your mother knows you the best. Listen to her when she's giving you advice, because she's probably right.
  6. Have manners. Hold doors open for people that have their hands full. Send thank you notes. Thank your parents when they take you out to dinner. Be respectful towards your peers.
  7. Being on time is important. Always wear a watch.
  8. It is 100% okay to make mistakes. Mistakes will teach you valuable life lessons, and the learning they provide will also help prepare you for the future.
  9. If you can afford to travel, then travel. Whether it's with your family, high school, college, or friends, just go somewhere. Learn from your travels and soak up the culture. Take thousands of photos.
  10. Focus on the positives, and don't dwell on the negatives. You're lucky to be young, free, and alive. Don't let small, insignificant problems get you down!
  11. Great friendships are the best. If you've found great BFFs, don't let them slip away. Cherish them and keep them close. Real friends will always stick around, even when life gets tough.
  12. Always put your best friends before your boyfriend. No, I haven't had an actual boyfriend yet, but I've seen girls ruin great friendships over a guy. It's not worth it!
  13. Find a passion that excites you. For me, it was blogging. I started blogging a little over a year ago and I've had so much fun along the way! If you're good at something, it doesn't hurt to give it a shot!
  14. It's perfectly okay to have an occasional lazy day filled with Netflix binge watching. Just make sure all of your schoolwork is completed first!
  15. Always have a hair tie with you! It sounds dumb, but sometimes you just have to put your hair in a ponytail.
  16. Go out of your way to remember people's names, birthdays, and other small details about them. It shows that you care!
  17. Take schoolwork seriously. Set goals for yourself and strive to achieve them. When you accomplish them, you'll feel so much better about yourself.
  18. It's okay to drink and go to parties when you're a teenager in college, but be safe! Never, ever get in a car with a drunk driver and never drive drunk. If you're walking around at night, always have a friend with you. Use common sense.
  19. If you want the extra Oreo, then eat the extra Oreo. Life is too short.
  20. It's okay to ask for help! You don't have to struggle alone... Whether it's on a school project or a personal problem, there's almost always someone who would be glad to assist you. If you're falling behind in Biology, go to your professor's office hours. Meet new friends in study groups. If you just need someone to talk to about life, go to a counselor!

LPD (Little Pineapple Dress)

Dress: J. Crew Factory | Necklace: J. Crew Factory | Bracelet: Tory Burch
Sunglasses: Tory Burch | Shoes (not pictured): Tory Burch

This dress is one of my absolute favorites. It's light, airy, and super easy to throw on. It's perfect for warmer weather! I'm in love with anything that has pineapples on it, so this is right up my alley.  This dress is no longer available (sadly), so I've linked a ton of trendy pineapple printed tops and dresses below for y'all to check out. Happy shopping!

What to Wear on a College Campus Tour

Many of you guys have college tours coming up, and the one question I get asked multiple times a day by my tumblr followers is, "What would you wear if you were touring [insert college name here] and it was supposed to be [cold/windy/hot/etc...] on that day?" Since I kept getting that question, I threw together some outfit ideas! I hope y'all find these useful!

A long sleeved dress and comfortable sandals is perfect for breezy, spring weather. It's not too casual, but it's not too dressed up either! I advise taking a crossbody bag of some kind so you don't have to hold stuff in your hands while walking around campus. It's also a good idea to wear a watch, because certain events during the tour might happen during certain times (and looking at your phone to check the time might be distracting).

If it's still cold where you're touring, wear comfortable yet appropriate clothing! I suggest a pair of dark wash jeans, a button down shirt, a cute vest, and comfortable flats. A Longchamp tote is the perfect size to hold your vest if you get hot while inside buildings!

If it feels like a sauna outside, I'd recommend wearing nice chino shorts and a flowy blouse to keep you cool! Again, make sure your sandals are comfortable, because you'll most likely be doing a lot of walking (and you really, really don't want to get blisters).

Anchored to Spring

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer | Clutch: Tory Burch | Shoes: Jack Rogers | Ring: Gorjana
Necklace: Local boutique | Sunglasses: Tory Burch

It's officially spring, which is my favorite season! I'm so excited for spring. All of the lovely flowers here in the Orlando area have started blooming, and it's definitely hot enough to lay out by the pool. The lovely weather has given me the perfect excuse to wear this dress.

Step into Spring Link-Up
"Booze Cruise" has always been my favorite Lilly Pulitzer print. This was actually the first Lilly dress I ever purchased, so it is very special to me! I love how it's different from any other Lilly print–– the orange combined with the bigger anchor shapes really makes it stand out. This is the perfect afternoon dress! I wore it to Hillstone the other night and it was perfect for a quick dinner with my roommate. Unfortunately, this dress is not being sold anymore, but I've linked a few similar Lilly Pulitzer options below!

All Green Everything

Dress: Francesca's | Shoes: Franco Sarto | Sunglasses: Tory Burch | Necklace: House of Harlow 1960

St. Patrick's Day has always been a huge deal in my hometown of Savannah, GA. Although I wasn't home for one of the largest St. Pat's day parades in the world, I still wanted to dress the part! I usually don't like how green looks on me, but I love this backless dress from Francesca's! It isn't available anymore, but I linked a similar one below!

My Favorite Past Travels (Part 5/7)

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about how much I loved Spain. It was #4 on my list of the top seven countries/places I've been. This week, I'm sharing my trip to Switzerland with y'all! It's number three on my list!

#3: Switzerland

Where I went
: We traveled to Engelberg (a very small yet adorable town) and Zurich!

Who I went with: my mother, father and brother

When we went: summer of 2012

What we did: In Engelberg, we stayed in the cutest inn and explored the town. We also went to the top of the mountain and climbed through a natural ice cave. In Zurich, we ate delicious food, shopped, and roamed the streets.

Why it is #5 on my list: Switzerland was gorgeous. It was different than any other country I've been to–– it was so clean! Even the gas stations looked like some utopian germ free experiment from the future. The river running through Zurich was so clean that you could see to the bottom. The countryside was lush and beautiful. Everything was perfect.

The ice cave–– it was freezing!

Standing next to the river in Zurich–– I can't believe this was three years ago! I look like such a baby!

Stay tuned to see my #2 favorite place in the world! If you've ever been to Switzerland, what was your favorite thing about it?

Lately on Instagram

Instagram has always been one of my favorite social media platforms. I've always loved photography, and I also love seeing what all of my friends are up to! Although I usually just post pictures to my tumblr, I've been using my blog instagram a lot lately! Here are some snaps I've recently taken:

My dog, Charlie, loves begging for food of any kind. I had to snap this picture of his sweet face as he begged for my salted caramel macaron... and no, I did not share it with him! :)
I took this photo of my lunch at the Collin's Quarter in Savannah a few weekends ago. I ate there several times when I was home for spring break. Their food is always delicious (and insta-worthy).
I was so, so, so excited when I got back to school after spring break. It has been in the high 80s, which means I got to break out my favorite spring clothing!
I've loved the brand Splendid for a few months now. Ever since my friends introduced me to it, I've been living in their soft cotton tees and tanks. when I stumbled upon this cute bikini, I knew I had to have it! I'm in love.
Obviously, I have a planner addiction/problem. I've been through three this school year alone. I'm currently using my Lilly Pulitzer one. It's perfect for keeping organized!
This weekend, I went to Clearwater Beach with my friends. We packed up the car and headed for even sunnier weather. It was so much fun! Here's me and my friend Grace rocking our favorite Krass & Co. shorts!

Friday Favorites

It's Friday, finally! This week was long for me since I had to get back into my school routine after returning from spring break. Our spring break was super early (seriously, who on earth decided that ours should start on February 28th? That's WINTER). Readjusting to school wasn't easy, especially since most of y'all are on your spring breaks and posting fun pictures on instagram! I'm a little jealous, I must admit. Even though it wasn't fun to return from break, it was still a good week overall. The weather here has been amazing. I'm not complaining about it being 80 degrees everyday. In fact, it's absolutely heavenly. Besides the weather, here are some of my favorites that made my week more enjoyable!

My interview with Emma
Emma, the blogger behind Dash of Serendipity, decided to interview me for her second "A Coffee Date With..." post. Although the interview was conducted over email, it was still a blast to do! I've loved Emma's blog for quite awhile. She's so talented! You can read the interview here.

The "Grandma loves ping-pong" Vine
I'm such a bad person for laughing at this, but it's so darn funny. It's like a train wreck. It's horrible, but you cannot stop watching it. This poor little grandma falls pretty hard while watching ping pong... you just have to watch the vine. Side note: I really, really hope she's okay. Maybe she'll feel better if someone tells her she's Vine famous.

I just signed up for Rocksbox and I love it! Basically, you take style survey and then a Rocksbox stylist picks out three pieces of jewelry to send you on loan. If you like something, you can buy it (and you get a 20% discount). If not, you send the pieces back and then they'll send you more jewelry. It's so much fun! Not only is the whole concept awesome, but it's also great that includes brands such as Kendra Scott and Loren Hope. Rocksbox is only $19 a month, but you can get a month free if you use the code "isabellabff14" when signing up!

How to Stay Organized/Good Habits to Form and Keep

Confession: I would go psycho in about 3.5 seconds if I ever lost my planner. My planner is my bible. I'm not one of those people that plans/maps out every hour of their life (props to you if you do) but I certainly have every important assignment and meeting written down. If I don't write something down, I'll most likely forget it, even though I hate admitting that. In high school, I never kept a planner. I was constantly forgetting homework assignments, and I'd remember them the next day in homeroom. I'd have to scramble during those 15 minutes to finish whatever I forgot to do. Although I got by fine, I would have done much better if I had been a more organized person. Now, I have my s**t together. I write every assignment down and I cross them off as I complete them. I highlight the high priority things. I put reminders in my phone to assure that I won't forget to turn in things on time.

I've come to the realization that if my life is organized, it's so much easier because I don't have to worry about forgetting anything. Organization goes way beyond having a planner though. Getting into a repetitive routine makes things a breeze (in my opinion). Here are some habits I've formed and kept that help me stay organized/on track!

Making my bed every morning. This might seem dumb, but if you make your bed, you're much less likely to crawl back in it during the day. Plus, it makes your room appear more orderly. I make mine every day as soon as I get out of it. If I forget to, there's a 50% chance I'll crawl back in it before the day is over. The past few weeks, I've made a conscious effort to not forget!

Trying to keep my email inbox as close to zero messages as possible. If I'm on my computer, I'm alerted every time I get an email. I read it immediately and delete it if I don't need to respond. It's much easier to do it that way then to have to sort through hundreds of emails later. If I'm away from my computer for an extended amount of time, the first thing I do once I log back on is sort through my emails.

Laying out what I'm wearing the next day the night before. Admittedly, I've been slacking on this lately. I need to get back into the habit of doing this! Last semester, I planned my outfits the night before so I wouldn't have to spend time in the morning doing it. I could sleep in a little later and I wasn't as rushed to get ready!

Getting physical exercise every day. This isn't really organization, but it's a part of my daily routine that I've solidified. When I work out, I feel much less stressed afterwards. When I'm less stressed, I can do better on assignments.

Going to sleep at a reasonable hour. This one is hard for me to adhere to. Unfortunately, I work best late at night, but I've been trying to work more during the day so I can be asleep by midnight. When I get a full eight hours of sleep, I feel more refreshed and prepared the next day.

Spring Scallops

Shorts: Lilly Pulitzer | Shirt: C&C California | Shoes: Jack Rogers | Necklace: Kendra Scott

I've been in love with these Lilly Pulitzer shorts for quite some time. I wore them to the practice round of the Masters last year, and I got so many compliments. They are the perfect spring short, and the scallops make them that much cuter. This specific pattern isn't for sale anymore, but I've linked incredibly similar ones below!

Carry-On Necessities

Whenever I travel by plane, I always make sure to pack certain things in my carry-on. Depending on where I'm headed, I might add a few things to my bag, but I always make sure to bring the following items:

  • A duffel bag with a change of clothes and other necessities (in case my checked baggage doesn't arrive to my destination)
  • My Longchamp
  • Sunglasses, for when I arrive to my destination
  • My iPhone
  • A scarf or pullover jacket in case the airplane gets chilly
  • My passport (if needed)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Lip balm
  • My journal
  • Socks, in case my feet get cold
  • A hair tie
  • Headphones
  • A portable iPhone charger
  • My laptop
  • A cosmetic case (inside I keep: a toothbrush, my contact lenses, my glasses, face wipes, deodorant, etc...)

Shop my carry-on necessities below (I'm loving those Karen Walker sunnies):

Bedroom Inspiration

{photo via}

I absolutely love my room at home. It's comfortable, the lighting is perfect, and I have a great view of the marsh. However, I would love to add some more colorful accents to my room. Right now, my walls are a shade of French blue, and my room has gold accents. I think it would be fun to add pops of pink and possibly a gallery wall over my bed that's similar to the one in my dorm room. I also like the idea of adding fur accents!
